4 Singing bowls (low to high), Medium metal bowl, 4 Flower pots (low to high), 3 Woodblocks (low to high), Pair of bongos, 2 Congas (medium and high), 2 Toms (low and medium), Kick drum

Programme Note:

At its core, TURN:SPIN is purely about physical and musical rotation. The piece follows the performer as they slowly traverse clockwise around the semi-circular arrangement of instruments. In writing this work, my goal was to create a fluid line from beginning to end, having both the instrumentation and rhythmic structures develop and transform throughout.

TURN:SPIN was commissioned by Jonathan Smith, supported by Toronto Arts Council with funding from the City of Toronto and received the 1st Prize (Solo and Duet Category) SOCAN Foundation Young Composers Award in 2020.
